Module Five - Savings - the long and the short of it
Students look at the aspirations and goals of the video characters and classify them as short, medium or long term. They then relate this to themselves. An exercise follows whereby they sort through financial goods and services in order to make sense of the diverse number of savings accounts on offer. They assess their own saving capability and look at different types of savings and investments. Work follows on AER (Annual Equivalent Rate) and different hypothetical savings accounts. The module concludes with a look at child trust funds. This module does not include material on pensions, stock market investments or endowment insurance policies.
